Privacy Policy

1. Statement of Intent
From time to time you will be asked to submit personal information about yourself (such as your name, address, email address etc) in order to use the services provided on our Web site. Such services include brochure requests, feedback, email a friend, reserving a cottage, making an on-line booking and paying the balance of rent.

By entering your details in the fields requested, you enable TMF Cottages Ltd to provide you with the services you select. Whenever you provide such personal information, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy. Classic Cottages Ltd will act in accordance with current legislation and aim to meet current Internet best practice.

2. Information on Visitors
During the course of any visit to the TMF Cottages Web site, the pages you see, along with something called a cookie, are downloaded to your computer. Most Web sites do this because cookies can help the visitor to navigate through the site and they can be used to store useful information. It is also helpful for the Web site provider to track how you arrived at the site, for example by clicking on a link found with a search engine like Google. Cookies can also be retained on your computer and the information read by the Web site provider when you return to the site at a later date.

The only cookies used by TMF Cottages are the source of any page you used to access our site, any keyword associated with that source, and the number of any cottages you add to your shortlist.

When you request a page on the TMF Cottages Web site you send certain information in accordance with the HTTP protocol to our web server so that it knows where to send the data requested. This data includes the IP Address allotted to your computer. This data is saved and analysed to provide useful information on the amount of traffic to the Web site and the efficiency with which it is handled by our server. We do not routinely use the IP Address for any purpose but we retain the right to do so to track down any malicious traffic designed to interfere with our servers (eg viruses).

3. Managing Cookies
A cookie is a small text file held on your computer and most browsers provide the facility to view and delete them. You can also elect to be warned when a cookie is being created and even decline to accept cookies. We would recommend that you leave cookies enabled, which is the default setting, as they are completely harmless and many Web sites will fail to operate correctly without them.

4. Use and Storage of Personal Information
When you supply any personal information to TMF Cottages we have legal obligations towards you in the way we deal with that data. We must collect the information fairly, that is, we must explain how we will use it and tell you if we want to pass it on to anyone else.

In general, any information you provide to TMF Cottages will only be used within the company. It will never be supplied to anyone outside TMF Cottages without first obtaining your consent, unless we are obliged or permitted by law to disclose it. Also, if you post or send offensive or inappropriate content anywhere on or to TMF Cottages, or otherwise engage in any disruptive behaviour on TMF Cottages, and TMF Cottages considers such behaviour to be serious and/or repeated, TMF Cottages can use any information that is available to it about you to stop such behaviour. This may include informing relevant third parties, such as your employer, school or service provider about the content and your behaviour.

The data you provide will only be used by TMF Cottages to send you a copy of our annual brochure and to enable us to administer the process of booking a holiday cottage, from placing a reservation on a cottage to completing a booking and payment of the rent. Part of these processes will involve the sending of emails but we will not send any emails for other purposes, such as promotional activities, without your prior request to be included in any such initiatives.

Privacy Policy

We will normally hold your personal information on our systems until such time as we deem it no longer commercially viable. We usually delete all data on you if our annual brochure is returned by the Royal Mail and we will do so at your request provided that there is no outstanding action on any holiday cottage booking. We will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

5. Access to Your Personal Information
You have the right to request a copy of the personal information that TMF Cottages holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. Please address requests to: Data Protection Officer, TMF Cottages Ltd, Tredaule Manor Farm, Tredaule, Altarnun, Launceston, Cornwall. PL15 7RW

6. Users Under 18 Years of Age
Users under the age of 18 are not permitted to rent a holiday cottage and personal details cannot be provided for this purpose. Any user under 18 years of age requesting a brochure must have their parents/guardians consent to use the TMF Cottages Web site. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.

7. Links to Other Web sites
This site contains links to other Web sites. TMF Cottages is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such Web sites. To ensure protection of your privacy, always review the privacy policy of the sites you visit by linking from our Web site.

8. Security
The security of all personal information is an important concern to us. Access to your data is restricted to TMF Cottages authorised personnel and our servers are housed in a secure environment. Our internal computer network is protected by a firewall and backup/archive tapes are stored in a safe. Whenever we ask for credit card details these are encrypted before transmission. We use Verisign as an officially recognised third party to authenticate and certify the security of our Web site and to encrypt your credit card details. However, despite every endeavour we should point out that 'perfect security' does not exist on and in the use of the internet.

9. Notification of Changes
This Privacy Policy Statement may be revised over time as new features are added to www.tmfcottages.co.uk or as internet security and privacy standards evolve. We will post notification of any changes prominently.

10. Acceptance of These Terms
By using this site, you signify your acceptance of the terms of the TMF Cottages Privacy Policy Statement. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the www.classic.co.uk site and exit the site immediately. Your continued use of the www.tmfcottages.co.uk site following the posting of changes to these terms will mean that you accept those changes.
